On December 7, 1972, soldiers and people of Khanh Binh Tay commune fought bravely and successfully forced a US army artillery platoon located on Silver Stone Island to withdraw. The Silver Stone is officially completely liberated from American control.

In 1981, it was Silver Stone Island where the CM12 project was closed. This 4-year-long project successfully repelled and defeated the destructive border invasion with malicious plots to overthrow the socialist regime led by foreign exiles in combination with the powerful forces. domestic reactionary led by Le Quoc Tuy and Mai Van Hanh.

On June 22, 2009, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism recognized Silver Stone Island as a National Historic Site.
